Garmin 5212 contour shading

On our Garmin 5212 I cannot see any depth shading on our navigation charts, ie: the chart is not distinguished by varying shades of blue denoting shallower and shallower water. We have the Lake Vu HD chip installed and for the most part everything is kosher except for the shading. I have read and re-read the manual and played with various settings, but nothing has changed. I have looked at other Garmin units (although not 5212s) and they showed the shading. The Navionics app on my iPad and iPhone show the shading after I set it to preset levels. Has anyone else experienced this? Without shading it is much easier to venture into areas that I would otherwise avoid. So far I have thanked God for the 26" draft on several occasions, but I'd rather not have to bring it up to Him so often 🙂 Any tips?

Do you have a safety shading setting anywhere in the chart plotter configuration menu? If you do, that might be worth investigating....

On the 5215 I go to Navigational Chart Then Menu , then Chart Setup, Then Chart appearance then Safety Shading..
