I find the Garmin 5212 to be lacking in the ability to mark fish. A Garmin tech told me sometime ago that it was mainly designed for navigation not fish finding. I have been over schools of breaking fish and it barley shows a fish. I have the Airmar thru hull transducer and the fluid level is OK, I have gone through the manual and checked all the settings. Any thoughts from the fisherman in the group? Adding another fishfinder and external transducer is an option but there is not much room at the helm.

Hello Brian,

Perhaps adding only a new, better transducer would work. Let the 5212 remain the sonar head unit.

Also, you have probably done this, but your 5212 is configured to 'show' fish, right?
