Garmin 5212 says "loading"

After working perfectly for the past 4 years, our Garmin 5212 screen shows the Garmin name and the message "Loading". but nothing else happens. I have tried the usual things like powering off and starting up again, removing the SD card and reinserting but no joy. Any thoughts or ideas?

Try disconnect all power and wires to the unit at the back. Then reconnect everything and start it up. Hope it works.

This happened to me on my 7212. Documentation online didn't help. Only way I could fix was using SD card with new software, inserting into primary unit (if you have two or more garmins) and then update the software (even if it's the same version). This happened to me during low battery situation, voltage dropped, 7212 I'm assuming turned off without proper shutdown, and firmware was corrupted. Not positive that will work for you as my situation was possibly different but I would begin researching how to "hard reset" or restore/upgrade your software.
