I am looking for a shortcut to mark a position when bottom fishing. The Garmin 5215 being "touch screen" I want a faster way to mark a spot. I have the navchart and bottom machine on split screen. Is the only way I can mark the spot as follows? Touch Home. Touch Mark or Man Over Board. When I do this I have moved over the spot a bit and by the time I sort it out and get back to the nav screen/bottom machine view I am running in circles a bit trying to re aquire the spot. My other option (depths of 100 to 150 ft) in our area is a clorox bottle painted day glo orange with line wrapped around it and an eight pount weight. The whole thing is thrown overboard, unwinds and anchors itself near the spot. Then I re-aquire the spot relative to the floating bottle and then mark it. It works ok when you are running from one area to another at 15 kts and run over something that looks good. Did I mention that I am "technologically challenged"? Help!
