I have the Garmin 5215 in a 2012 29S. When I go to the charts, the boat is shown in the right location but the Longitude/Latitude is approx. 10 miles off. I have checked it against two different devices & it is not correct. I tried going back to the factory setting but that didn't help. Any ideas?

When did you last update the software? If you don't have the latest version that could be the problem.

Software was updated in April when we got the boat.

Did you also update the firmware on the gps antenna? That is different from the chart plotter.

Is there a question mark over the boat? If so that would indicate the chartplotter doesn't have a GPS signal. Also, if you're in covered moorage that can mess with the signal as well. Are you experiencing the problem underway or at your slip?

Thanks,
-Kenny

No question mark over the boat. I am able to use auto pilot & it takes me to the way points that I plot in, so I think it is getting a GPS signal. The boat is not in a covered slip, it is the wrong long/latitude all the time weather I am in the water at the dock, underway or on the trailer.

Thanks!!

If it shows the boat at the right place on the chartplotter, and the autopilot takes you to the correct points, the GPS must be working properly. Are you sure the coordinates it is showing are wrong, or could it be that it is showing lat and long in degrees and tenths but you are thinking degrees and minutes? (Or vice versa)
