Garmin 7212

It looks like my 7212 on the bridge of my R31cb has gone out. It acts like the screen size is wrong for the touch functions, like it is a 7216. The touch screen works off and on and sometimes changes the screen on it’s own. I’ve tried to calibrate the touch screen but no go.
So if this can’t be fixed can I replace just the bridge 7212 with a 7612 and keep the main helm station the existing 7216. Will they be comparable. And talk to each other. I’d like the wifi function of the 7612 so that would be a bonus. Also there doesn't seem to be a lot of 7212 for sale. Your thoughts?

I posed a similar question to Garmin Tech support regarding installing the newer AIS 800 or older AIS 600. I have a 5215 chart plotter. Their suggestion was go with the older AIS 600. While the AIS 800 is compatible with the older 5215, future firmware upgrades will probably make it incompatible with my 5215. So my suggestion is to see if the older 7200 series chartplotters are and will continue to be compatible with the newer 7600 series as the 7600 series sees firmware updates.
