With all the discussion about chart plotters, etc. I thought I would check and see the status of my Garmin 740S. I talked to Garmin and found out it is no longer supported from a repair perspective and the Nov 7, 2017 software update will be its last. You can still get chart updates for the foreseeable future.
My question is has anyone upgraded their 740S to a 742XS and what road bumps did you need to overcome?
I know that the pin configuration for the hull mounted transducer is now 8 pins instead of 6 pins. Garmin does make an adaptor cable to solve this problem. Also the physical format is the same so it should just bolt in the same cutout. How about the radar and engine data?
