When activating a route, I am asked if I want to engage the autopilot. There are times when I don't engage it.

I can't figure out how to engage the autopilot later with an activated route. Similarly, I don't know how to disengage the autopilot on an activated route without the route turning off.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

There is way to do it...I forget the exact steps, it is about 3 clicks on the AP display in the dash.

I have the remote, and I have programmed "button 1" to go to Follow Route" when I click it. It takes two clicks....one to engage it and one to confirm.

That works well for me.

I hope that helps.

Not near the boat right now (actually we’re in Mexico for 9 weeks). Others can correct me if I missed something but as I recall, you select “menu” on the autopilot display, scroll down to and select “gps steering,” then “follow route.” You might or might not have to hit “engage” at that point. Be aware that if you are not right over the magenta line the boat may turn dramatically to port or starboard to get to the assigned course.

…Forgot the second half of your question: Hit “standby” on either the chartplotter or the AP display. That will return manual steering to you. Just be aware that if you then hit “engage,” you will be on Heading Hold and not on “follow route.” You have to go through the previous steps to get back to following your route.

As you have probably already discovered, if you tap the navigation icon in the upper left corner of your chartplotter, the route will disappear.

Got it!

Thanks for the assist.
