I recalled seeing this earlier and thought to myself "that is just so Garmin for that to happen". I should learn as this kind of unavailability has happened to me in the past on Garmin devices of different types. Granted, the last device hiccup was probably two years ago, and I thought this kind of thing was in the past.
You would think the GPS and plotting tools would ALWAYS work. AlWAYS. Not sometimes.
But not the case. Tonight at about 6 pm while out on the Columbia river near Multnomah Falls, Oregon heading west, my Garmin 5212 (plotter, chart ,etc integrated and built in the 25SC) screen froze. We were thankfully in the middle of the channel, so We slowed down, rebooted, and it came back up after about a minute. Work as expected thereafter.
I wondered what the heck was going on and recalled this email thread I scanned over the weekend.
What gives, Garmin? Any input from someone on the know on this issue? Is it possibly related to the Blue Charts crashing.
Very disappointed in Washington,
Mike
