2015 Cutwater 26; I no longer get a depth indication on my Garmin MFD. Format is there with all dashes but no numerical value. Any ideas as to cause and correction of this failure?

Transducer failure! Check other post about failure of transducers.

check that the cup is glued down properly or the liquid in the cup (if used) is not dry

This can also be software related. We have had success with going into the sonar settings and making a change, then changing back to original settings.

yep reset the settings to auto (gain etc) and see if you see bottom. sometimes tuning the sonar manually results in no output

Thanks for all the input. I checked the transducer and found it leaking. I will try to reseal and refill. As usual with this boat the transducer is in a very restricted access area. I see two screws holding the top to the base. Once these screws are removed what is the procedure to separate the top from the base? Thanks again!

It's not necessary to remove the screws, at least on mine. Just twist in the direction of the arrow on the cap. Be careful to position the "catches" correctly in re-installing the cap; it's easy to be 180 degrees off. It will go, if forced, but will crack the base (spoken from experience).

If it is leaking I would suggest removing it, thoroughly clean the hull where it was and set it in 4200. Let it cure and then reinstall the unit in cup with appropriate fill of antifreeze.

The depth sensor on my boat, 2018 27OB, came loose from the hull. Factory said they used 4200 to attach and recommended I use the same to reattach. I found the hull and sensor mount were not prepped correctly at the factory. I prepped them correctly and used 4200 to attach mount to hull. It came loose again. I cleaned up the mounting surfaces again and used 5200 to attach mount to hull. So far it has stayed attached and is not leaking. My sensor is attached to the mount with 6 screws, it doesn't twist on, not sure when that change was made.

just note that most leaks occur not where the cup is glued on but where the sensor mounts to the cup - ie at the o ring.

When we first got our boat (2015 R29S) we had a leaky transducer and I found that I needed to top off the cup every few weeks (w/ red marine antifreeze). Someone on this site suggested running a thin bead of vaseline over the gasket. I did so, and it hasn’t leaked since, nearly a year. Just a thin layer, applied with a finger.

Depth now working. Found a leak at the base to hull bond. I did not remove the base as it was secure, but used 4200 to seal around the existing bond. Also cleaned and lubricated the o-ring seal. All good so far. Thanks for the input; great site!
