Hello all,

Setting up combo page on my 942, and if I display Eng Fuel Econ, it reads 0.0 when Eng display shows 2.6 nmg. If I select Total Fuel Economy, it shows a number that doesn't match the Eng Display. i.e., 2.05 versus 2.6. It should be getting info directly from the Eng? Correct? or is the Garmin doing its own math based on GPS speed and Eng Fuel flow? I have read posts where there were discrepancies and wanting to see if anyone found a fix besides constantly turning House and Eng batteries off.

Regards,

Craig

Craig,

I have a 29 with Volvo engine so not sure how relevant my experience is. First, it is my understanding that the Garmin Chartplotter requires communication with the engine to display engine fuel economy since it needs fuel consumption data. Twice I have had issues with my engine (Volvo) communicating with my Chartplotter. Once was after a Volvo software upgrade and it was ultimately fixed by upgrading some Volvo communication software in addition to the engine control software. Possibly more applicable to you was when I lost Volvo data due to a NEMA2000 communication problem. I could see this problem as the Volvo no longer appeared as a NEMA device on the list available via the Chartplotter. It turned out that the NEMA backbone was not working (poor connections?) and the fix was to rebuild the backbone and stabilize it via screwing it down to a piece of wood.

I hope this helps.
