Being new to all these electronics , I have been playing with them , the last 4 weeks , note;; I am on the St Clair River at the Mouth of Lake Huron . Being I am on the US/Canada line , every thing went well , I entered a bunch of waypoints so I could make a route to the North Channel , when I reviewed the route , it was all jumbled up and off to the west by 20 or so miles . Talked to Garmin today and he said the unit only covers US waters , and won't have a lot of detail without installing HXCA015R CANADA G2 ( covers Great Lakes and east ) I ordered it , will pick it up july 18 th and try it . The North Channel that I see at the moment is not detailed , but shows a bit . Does this sound like the chip I will be getting will fix my problems or do you guys with 7212 think I have something else up ??? ( I did load the most current update 5 weeks ago ) any ideas would be great . thanks Dave Cook

Good question on the map. As I look on the Garmin site for the G 2 it looks like the map number USO39R may work. I have a call into Garmin to confirm. If you get an answer on which map let us know.

I have that Chip and it has detail for all of Canada North Channel included.

thanks for the help , Dave
