It used to, but sometimes after upgrading to v36 software the depth reading, below 10ft, no one longer displays as a number. It either flashes on 10, or displays _ _ _ . I can see the bottom on sonar display, but even that view the depth digits are either blank or frozen on 10.

Anyone know if v36.12 solves this issue, or some other way to resolve ?

Many folks here - me included - have reported their depth sounders stopped indicating depth because all the glycol seeped out of the transducer housing that is mounted inside the hull. If you look at the housing, it will tell you if it's leaked: oily glycol stain or puddle.

Where is transducer located? Mine works fine 98% of time. It is set to read true water depth from water surface. Sometimes it is stuck on like a number like 1.7 ft, or 220 ft, or ——. Then it corrects itself after 5 minutes. Any idea why? I doubt it is seaweed.

Check to see what depth the Sonar is set at, I was playing with mine and got the same feed back reset the sonar depth and all is fine.

What model boat?
2017 R29 ….. not sure what you mean to “reset sonar depth”. I will look at it when I get to boat. The depth finder offset was set to top surface of water and checked with a weighted string from top of water to bottom of water.

On my R31 the depth gauge was not working had to remove the fridge to access the transducer, it looked full no sign of a leak added maybe a capfull or two of pink antifreeze and it started working.

I probably should add some details, r27ob, and the cup is full of AF. Note, the transducer is working, it ticks, and on sonar view it's showing nice solid bottom at the right location (below hull). It's just the "translation" into digital readout that is blank or frozen. And it's ok above 10 ft.

I still think it is software, but Garmin tech support didn't have any answers beyond replacing transducer, which seems odd, since it's seeing bottom fine.
