Garmin plotter discontinued

So I was just filling my COVID 19 day and got an email announcing the new Garmin GPS 24xd Position Receiver and Antenna. I looked at compatible devices and did not find the GPSMAP 7610xsv on our 2017 boat listed. On further search I found that this unit is now discontinued. The 7410xsv is still offered. Anyone know the story behind this? Is it a problem unit? Any word on how long it will be supported for software upgrades and such?

Seems that Garmin has a habit of very short product life cycles. I have 2015 Garmin marine radio that developed a shredded mic cable. "No longer supported".

Hello Chimo,

Typically once a product is discontinue the software version or updates stop at that time. However, the rest of the Garmin components can be updated through the plotter so it's good to keep an eye out on Garmin's website for updates. As to why they discontinued the unit I don't know. I will say the units worked great for us! I know of 5200 series plotters out there still running well so I wouldn't be to concerned.
