Garmin7212 does not recognize GSD22

My 2015 C30 CB Garmin 7212 comes up with sonar lost. I look at the Garmin devices connected an it does not list the GSD22.
I located and looked at my transducer and it was bone dry in the well. I understand it should be filled with RV antifreeze, but how much? Also would a transducers without antifreeze mean the Garmin 7212 would not recognize the sounding device? Any trouble shooting help is much appreciated-many thanks

turn main power off for a few minutes.
I find Garmin needs a reset periodically.

-100 degree anti-freeze for fresh water systems (propylene glycol) is what you need. The instruction sheet for the Airmar P79 transducer says 2.4 fl. oz. The important thing is to have the entire bottom of the transducer in the fluid. If you overfill it too much, it just runs over the top of the cup and you mop it up with paper towels.

It could be the reset or the fluid. The easy one is the reset. It is best to remove the power cable from the box. Wait a minute and reconnect. Also make sure all your connections are tight to the backbone. Then it could be the fluid issue. Don't be surprised if the transducer is not the typical installation. I have seen it where it was glued to the hull and the glue released and that is why the signal was lost. If that is the case I would suggest getting the cup and do the standard installation.

If your sonar isn't being recognized on the "marine network" communications page on the Garmin, it should have nothing to do with fluid in the transducer cup. If your GSD was working correctly and the cup was low or out of fluid, it would show on the network page but you wouldn't have a depth reading. The first thing I would verify is that the network ports on the rear of the garmin have secured plugs. One is for the radar and one is the sonar (GSD 22). If it still isn't reading, you might check the lights on the GSD 22 and verify what color they are. I would also make sure your software is completely up to date. Once this is done, let us know what its doing.

Thanks all for the replies to my post. I am a "newbie" here and good to see the quick responses.
All my cabling seems tight on all three Garmin chart plotters- not sure if there is only one main Garmin it would be connected to? I did not put any antifreeze in the transducer cup yet, but I think Andrew is correct that it should show up on the marine network anyway. I am not getting any sonar at all. I was able to locate the sounding device tonight thanks to some help from John and Reno at Hamlin's Marine. The device (GSD 22) is in a tight location. I accessed it thru a removable panel in quarter berth, but I could only view, what I think, is the back end of the device and did not see a LED indicator. Maybe it is on the front end where the cables are plugged? Tomorrow I think I will try to view it with a small hand held mirror (dental mirror) or something, since the spot is tight i can stick my hand in and try to view the front of the GSD- unless I can get a better view for another access panel? I plan on downloading the software upgrade on the Garmin website also - but I do not think that is my main cause of my problem at this point.
Will post back my results this weekend.

Gentlemen- Here is my update and findings: Originally I did not see any lights on the GSD 22. Using a dental mirror and flash light I was able to see the LED but it was not active. I double checked and tightened down a little more on the connectors on both the GSD and all three chart plotters, then turned on house power and the GSD 22 showed up in the Garmin network - I check the GSD LED and it was blinking green -good thing since replacing this looks to be a little tricky. However, I do not see any depth or temp reading.

I then updated the Garmin 7212 software (bundle) from the website and although the V3.20 is the must current version I still do not see depth and temp readings. I was not able to put anti freeze in the transducer pot today, since it is 10 deg F here and the hydraulics could not lift the engine compartment hatch. Anyway, I do think I should get some depth or a erroneous reading, even when the boat is on the trailer. I am not sure if there should be a temp reading - not sure what transducer is installed in the 2015 C30

Any thoughts/suggestions?

You won't get any temerature readings. That requires a thru-hull type of sensor. As far as depths on a trailer, I suspect that won't happen either. I am pretty sure that the way the sonar works it requires water contact up to the hull.

Yes, that would makes sense - I will wait for the boating season start and give it a whirl.
Anyway, my main problem of the GSD 22 not being recognized by the Garmin marine network is now solved! - Many thanks to all for your advise.
