Gatmin autopilot software missing

anyone know the fix to this....suddenly my autopilot pops up a black screen with "software missing" in a white text box. The systems says no software updates are due.

kinda gotten used to not steering.

Sounds like a failure to boot properly or the system experienced a drop in power during an update resulting in a corrupted file. If it's a ghc20 you can try turning it off, then push and hold the standby button and then give a short press to the power button. Keep holding the standby button until the forced software update/reset completes.

Otherwise it gets more complicated such as setting up an isolated nmea2000 network with just the pilot controller, power, and Garmin's n2k card reader. Then using an SD card with the appropriate file, flashing it to the device.

Apparently some corruption, need to do master reset per Garmin tech support. The autopilot works fine via the chartplotter until I get around to the reset.
