Generator battery

There are 3 banks of batteries. One each for the engine and thrusters and 4 for the house. Which one does the generator use to start?

Why not trace the cables from the genset back to the battery in question. This is the only way to be 100% sure, more so if your not the first owner.

On our 2018 R29S the thruster battery is located in the starboard cockpit locker, labeled battery bank number 3 in the Ranger Tug owners manual.

Hi Richard:
Look at page 32 in the Ranger Tug R29 manual. It shows the stern thruster switch must be in the "on" position in order to start the generator, and the generator is using the thruster battery to start.
