Generator Blower Switch

Does anyone know where the blower switch is on a 2017
R29? Spoke to NextGen, they indicated my issues
are heat related and that all generators are shipped
with blower for builder Installation.

I’m told the blower switch is in the 1/4 birth underneath the
FlipSeat. The only think I’m seeing there is the Gen start/stop

Do you even have a blower installed? FM doesn't seem to see the need to install blowers for cooling engine room components.

That’s what I’m wondering. NextGen ships all their units with a blower to the builder. So what is Ranger Tug doing with them...selling them on EBay (lol). Really they should be providing the customer, ideally with the installed blower as per NexGen requirements.

Would really like to hear from Ranger Tug on where are the blowers for all of our purchased generators?

A properly installed blower should be rated at 150 CFM and and be 120 V. The blower would automatically turn on when the generator starts to produce electricity. To confirm you have a properly installed blower there would be an exhaust port vent installed on the exterior of the hull. I know many of the early installation were done by just exhausting the warm sound box temperatures into the compartment which caused the generator ( electrical side) to shut down because of high temps. The other issue is the 30 amp fuse would blow, higher temps higher resistance. It seems the fix is install a 40 amp fuse to protect a 3.5 KW generator ? The way to determine the fan installation is look for it in the compartment. When you locate the fan compare the color coding of the wires and look for that color in the fuse panel if not marked the wire color will indicate the fuse location. Check the fuse. I would suspect the fan is automatic when the generator is on the fan turns on.

Great will check that out. Mine has Flexible ducting coming out of the port side of the generator housing, will ensure that’s venting out, with a blower .

So it looks like the blower is working. It is drawing air through the starboard side louvered vent , nothings coming out the port side louvered vent, I assume this should be the exhaust, so I’ll take a closer look at the venting this weekend.

The setup on my 2019 R29 CB does not have a dedicated blower switch. The blower is activated by a relay mounted on the generator. When you start your generator it powers up the blower. The blower is designed to evacuate air from inside the generator enclosure and vent it out through the port louvered vent that you spoke of. If you open your port cockpit hatch the blower should be mounted on the floor towards the Stern. It’s a Jabsco blower 150 CFM 12 volt model 36740. It should be easy enough to check to see if it’s running. Fire up your generator and open the hatch cover I spoke of to see if the motor is running. If it is not running you will eventually build up enough heat inside the enclosure of the generator that it will shut the generator down. If you find that the motors running but not venting through the port side then you must have an obstruction, broken or disconnected hose somewhere in the path. Check for this on both sideS of the motor, the generator enclosure and the inner hull vent.

The blower is running. I can feel the intake on the starboard side although I don’t feel the exhaust out the port side Louver . The dryer like ducting seems intact, no rips, although I don’t see how it connects to the exhaust Louver on the port side.

150 CFM blower if properly installed will discharge a noticeable amount of air out of a hull vent. If you feel limited or no discharge air coming out it is probably disconnected or dead headed because of a poor installation. There needs to be adequate air flow for cooling. The representative at NexGen is correct, The elevated compartment temperatures do to higher ambient outside temperatures and engine compartment temperatures will cause operating issues.
