Generator question pls

After I start the Volvo engine, I turn off the battery(s) charger. As the Volvo alternator charges the batteries.

I am assuming that I should turn the battery charger “on” after I start the Generator correct ?

There is no issue with having the charger on with the alternator operating. If your generator is powering the battery charger and the alternator is charging, the one supplying the higher voltage will charge the battery. The Alternator does need to have a battery connected while operating.
