Subject: Getting help from Garmin for my Quatix 5 watch

I was having troubles with configuring my Quatix 5 watch today.... even after scanning the voluminous User Manual for hints and clues. I ended up call Garmin for tech help for the watch. After a few minutes on hold a friendly voice was heard and in short order my questions/issues were resolved.

Just thought I'd pass along the good experience with Garmin help via telephone.

This issue was that my watch was not getting a good fix on Satellites for its GPS and the reason was I was inside my house. Once outside all the aspects of GPS were resolved within a few seconds.

Baz, Please let us know how you like the Quatix. I was thinking of getting one but then I heard the range of the watch with the autopilot only works within 3 feet of the display. When they told me that at the Seattle Boatshow I thought that kind of defeated the purpose.

It looks like a very cool gadget for the boat.

On my R-27 I can leverage the Autopilot and Boat data when in the bow and cockpit without issue. Great watch on and off the boat. Highly recommend! The stainless band is dramatically more comfortable than the rubber ones. I use the stainless for everyday wear, and switch to the Rubber when working on project, on the boat, and swimming.

I guess they fixed it then. That is all I wanted it to do.

Thanks for the response.

Yes... agree with this. 🙂

Does it only work with GHP 20 autopilot or GHP 10 too?
