When pulling my R27, I can get it to the stop with no problem. then when it is pulled, the boat settles down on the bunks leaving an 8" gap. I have been told to drive forward, hit the brakes and it will slide up. 4 tries at this and it didn't move an inch. How do you guys handle this??

I have the same issue with my c28. The first thing I tried was to move the v stop forward on the trailer, load the boat. pull it out and then slide the v stop back to the boat. Now I simply attach a large ratchet strap to the front ubolt on the boat and the other end on the tongue. Ratchet it tight and drive down the road half mile or so and tighten the ratchet strap again. This gets the boat pulled up to the vstop.

Search the forum for "Ranger Bump" and I you will find a lot of information. I replaced the carpet with vinyl bunk covers, put some lube from West Marine on the bunks and that helps reduce the speed and stop necessary to get the boat properly seated. I find that steeper ramps create a larger gap because the stern is floating higher relative to the bask of the trailer and the angle is greater. 2015 R25sc w/ GMC 2500 Duramax diesel.

Brian from BBMarine uses the "move the V post forward" technique when loading the boat, and I've been doing this with my C28, and it has worked well. I carry a rachet and socket in my truck, and before loading the boat, I move the post forward approximately 3-4 inches and tighten it down. I then drive the boat to the post V and crank it down. Once I pull out, I loosen the post and push it back to the boat. I then tighten it down and crank the strap tight. Using a ratchet it takes only a few minutes to do this.
Brian also suggested using a permanent marker to mark the two locations for the post, making it easier to repeat this process quickly and precisely. I did this and also scored the aluminum I beam as the marker will wear off over time.

I currently move the v post. Just wanted to see other ideas. Might try putting the slick stuff on the bunks. thanks for the replies.

I have a C-28. What I found is that you must release the pressure on the front strap to get it to move with the brake bump.
If the strap is tight it holds the boat too tight down to the bunks. Then after the move I retighten the strap.

Mary Kate Liquid Rollers bunk spray helps with boat postioning....just be cautious when removing strap on steeper launch ramp. Mary Kate spray makes for less aggressive Ranger Bump.
