Running the microwave or coffeemaker trips the main breaker beneath the stove .
Is that just a bad gfi ?

A MW can run 15Amps plus 2 to 5 at startup.. A Coffee maker somewhere around 10-12 Amps..

What is the plug circuit rater for?

MW 1000 Watts
Coffee Maker 800-1200 watts

That's a lot of electrical math...The formula is: Amps = Watts divided by Volts, or in this case: Amps = 1000 (Watts) divided by 120 (Volts) Or. 1000 (Watts) divided by 120 (Volts) = 8.33 (Amps).

That is a ELCI, an over load can cause it to open. An imbalance in current will also cause it to open. It opens if the ground wire (green) is open. In our case when we first purchased our boat the shore power receptacle wiring was loose. Any time there was any higher amperage load ( hot water heater and air unit, Hot water and electric stove) it would open. We also burned the cord end. I found the connections at the boats shore power connection loose, the wiring is very tight there. After making this repair we have not had an issue. You can also have the same problem if the dock pedestal receptacle connections are loose. You can be right too it could be a defective ELCI.

I’ll try that right now. Thank you .

I’m thinking it’s the marina pedestal. I swapped it to another one and the issue seems resolved.

Brian, where are you keeping your boat, I'm at burnham ek1

We at Reef Point marina Racine. We make it down to Chicago at least once a year. Take a ride up to Reef point, Its very nice! We can have Docktails!

Sorry, I jumped on the GFI without thinking. Load and GFI are different...
