We're heading to Gig Harbor on Sat night... the marina is full. Anyone know of a private dock we can tie to for the evening?

Sometimes if you get there early enough you can tie up at the community dock. Pick the spot carefully so the tide does not go out under you. Bob Heselberg Eatonville

Gary and Rosalee have told us that the anchoring is good and gives you a nice view.

By Sat afternoon, the public pier fills up pretty quickly. They do allow rafting on south side of pier. There is one public mooring buoy about 30 yards off the SE corner of the pier. Sometimes that's still available when the public pier is full.

I anchor in the harbor straight out from the public pier regularly. There is a dingy-only float at the base of the pier. Tides tavern at the mouth of the harbor has a pier for use by patrons that can provide some temp moorage for the cost of a beer.

Try Arabellas Landing first 253-851-1793. They usually have quite a few slots and are centrally located.
Next would be: Harborview Marina 8513948, Murphy's Landing Marina 851-3093, Peninsula Yacht Basin 858-2250, Pleasure Craft Marina 253-549-6639.
Anchoring is also a good choice. Just look for spots north of the Public Dock and near the Seattle Yacht Club out station. Lots of folks do that. And as mentioned by others, if you cannot find a spot to tie up, the public dock has quite a few spaces for dinghy tie ups for boats anchored further out.
Hope you can find a spot. Lots to see in Gig Harbor and several good eating places.
Good Luck. Gary and Rosalie 253-857-7049 Gig Harborites.

Thanks tugnutters... the Gig Harbor Marina called to say that they have found a slip for us! I'll check out these other options when we arrive this afternoon for future reference. We're in Bell Harbor Marina this morning, enjoying our cups of java and looking at an incredible downtown view. We are so fortunate here in the PNW.. we have the San Juan and Gulf Islands at our backdoor and La Connor, Gig Harbor and the Emerald City at our front. Never at a loss for new adventures and sights.
