Last week I had to have the control module under the spare tire replaced and reprogramed. The trailer brakes (electric over hydraulic) were not receiving an electronic signal from our GMC therefore the brakes on the trailer would not work. When the GMC service department hooked up their scanner the module showed a C0561 fault code.
I mention this to alert others that if for some reason your trailer brakes are not working it may be the module on your truck that's causing the problem. Interestingly enough we have 40,000 miles on our truck and the module is covered up to 36,000 miles. So if you have a GMC/Chevy it may be worth checking out as the replacement, labor and reprogramming came to $282.00.
