We traded up from an R27 classic to an R29CB last year. Bottom line is we wouldn't look back. The boat feels a lot bigger and more stable (extra beam makes a big difference). Full bed is of course a bonus, although a rock hard mattress needs a topper to make it comfortable. Interestingly, the boat is a little slower than the r27 Classic. But we have the D4 260hp, not the larger 300 or 320. Comfortable cruise is around 12 knots, 3000 rpm and 10 g/hr. It will do this all day, and beyond although, like all diesel rangers, it is a bit light on engine compartment sound deadening (a bit of a design fault IMHO). Top speed around 16 knots. 140 gal fuel tank gives good range. Proper dinghy storage was a must for us, and from what I can see a real problem on the R27OB. We weren't really looking for a CB, and would have been happy with an S. But the CB became available first and it is great sitting up top. If you can justify the extra cost then go for it!
