Left Michigan for Florida this morning. About 5:30. Dark.
Cold (-14f)
Now in London, Ky. It is a positively balmy 11 degrees.
I can say with certainty that there were no other boats on I-75 to be seen.
Sure got a lot of second looks from other drivers.

I am running APRS. If you search on Google Maps aprs it will point you to the page. Onece htere you can enter K8DO-14 in the track box. I see I lost track back at Maumee Ohio. I will check it in the to see if I can get it working.

Georgia is in state of emergency due to snow; all interstates are pretty much gridlocked around Atlanta, and babies are being born in traffic.

Watched the Weather Channel and made a few phone calls. We are staying here until Thursday AM and then we will see.
Bright sun and 1 degree here at 5AM (not what we were hoping for when we scheduled this trip) and spoze to get up to 20 or so.

This motel has a big back lot where semi rigs park so the truck and boat are safe and sound. And a Waffle House across the street. Much better than stuck in a traffic jam.
Been watching the Weather Channel/ The folks stuck on 285 West in Atlanta don't need a doctor, they need a tow truck equipped with studded tires.
Rebooted the APRS in the truck. Now showing we are here. We will see if it continues working.

Called the Georgia State Police at 5AM.
I-75 / 285 still blocked (sigh)
It is gonna be another day here in motel land.
We have a scenic view of the pool and the picnic area - at 9 degrees.

Just take a little walk in your neighborhood, you will probably find a place that will fulfill your dream....and then some. :lol:

Stay warm, it will get better. Our Tropical Tip of Texas, after bottoming out at 32d F, is headed back to near 80 tomorrow. Today should be a nice day as the North winds have shifted back to the South East. Sit tight and let the folks that must drive have the roads until this passes.

might want to stock your galley; if you get stuck you could make some decent gas money by providing food to the other stranded motorists who turn down the MRE's that the National Guard is handing out.

I-75 around Atlanta began running by 8:30 this morning. By the time we found out it would have been 10AM before we would be underway and way late to get to our usual stop for the night. So sitting it out the rest of the day knowing that by tomorrow the roads will be dry.
I would regale you with tales of our deprivation while stranded by the Great Storm of 014 - except I write this comfortably ensconced in a warm motel room with a fishing program on the TV. Man, life is hard :mrgreen:

We made friends with a couple from Michigan who had a sister running just ahead of them (and us) to FLorida. They heard Atalanta traffic was flowing Thursday AM and went. Called her sister later that night and said it was a mistake. They spent hours creeping along in stop and go traffic.
Anyway after waiting it out from Tuesday we left this morning, Friday. Atlanta traffic was a pain (as usual) THere were sudden slow downs and stoppages that we never saw a reason for cause for when we finally were able to speed up again (shrug) The run from Kentucky exit 41 to Georgia exit 2 took about an hour longer than we usually make it in. Nothing to write home about. Tomorrow should be all downhill and end with the boat afloat.
