After I refueled our boat for the first time, I noticed that I had to manually reset the remaining fuel level.

The GARMIN manual says:

GPSMAP 74xx, 76xx, and 8xxx series

With the device powered ON, begin on the Home screen
Choose Gauges
Choose Home
Choose Engine Menu
Choose one of the following options
Fill Up Tank - Set fuel level to the maximum capacity
Add Fuel to Boat - Specify the amount of fuel added
Set Total Fuel Onboard - Specify the amount of fuel currently available in the fuel tank or tanks

My chartplotter does not show these options.

I have added a screenshot to my photo album.

Any suggestions welcomed.
Thank you
Claus

The engine must be on for the options to show.

Will try it next time I am on the boat... wonder why GARMIN did not add this to the friggin’ manual!

There is a ton of stuff Garmin left out of their F'n manual, which I find frustrating. I also find that some of the procedures in my GPSMAP do not match the procedures in my manual. When you think about ALL the things the GPSMAP does... it is not surprising they don't, almost can't, include everything.

After starting the engine, I still did not find the options mentioned in the manual.

I did get a screen that showed 95% fuel level, without me having to enter anything... (photo in my album)

Go figure...

I had the same issue on my R23, I was told to turn the key to the on position without starting the motor, then those options were available for me. That may work for you. Good luck. Kevin

There are two different readings that you will see. 1) % of fuel, 2) Gallons of fuel. 1) is not always accurate, this reading relies on the sending unit in the tank to be properly calibrated. The Factory calibration is full tank 100% this is the least accurate especially if the fuel tank is irregularly shaped. The Volvo owners manual gives an explanation and directions of a more accurate calibration by filling the fuel tank in steps and entering percentages of fill. I was shown the most accurate way of calibrating the fuel tank by a Volvo Technician at the marina.

In you original post you were looking for-
Fill Up All Tanks
 Add Fuel to boat
 Set Total Fuel on board

This is a very accurate way of accounting for fuel on board but it does require entering information. With engine power switch on and Garmin on. A/V Gauges- select engines-Menu - Fill up tanks- add fuel to boat- set fuel on boat.

Once you have selected the size of your fuel tank. Example: Settings ---- My Vessel----- Set fuel capacity --- I enter 80 gallon capacity. Each time I fill up I can enter Fill up tanks and now the Garmin will reset and read 80 gallons. Or I can enter the exact amount of fuel taken on board at fill up. Example: Before fueling Garmin recorded 25 gallons on board. I filled up and added 50 gallons to the tank. I enter 50 gallons Garmin will reset and read 75 gallons. The Garmin is linked to the Volvo EVC (N2K) using this information to accurately record the fuel used and fuel on board.

On our chartplotter, the easiest way to enter this information is:
From the home screen touch "INFORMATION"
Then "ENGINES"
Then "FUEL"
Then "ADD FUEL TO BOAT"
That will then give you options to fill up all tanks or enter gallons added.
If entering gallons added, you must enter several zeros, or move the cursor several spaces before entering the number of gallons.

Brad,

Thanks for your suggestion.

The best I can do after trying the below is to get the 96% Fhudl level.

I still do not get the elusive “ADD FUEL TO BOAT” option.

Have you set the amount of fuel the tanks hold? I don't remember the steps for that off the top of my head, but pm me if you need them and I can look them up.

Problem SOLVED.

Here are the keypresses to be used on my GARMIN 7616svx:

1. SETTINGS

2. ENGINES

3. MENU (the missing step before ... this opens up GAUGES).

4. ADD FUEL TO BOAT

Thanks all for helping me. Garmin Marine Helpdesk is going to update the manual...
