The time has come to start planning for this coming summers Great Lakes Rendezvous. After speaking with the folks at Fluid Motion, marina harbor master and catering personnel we have chosen Little Current in Ontario’s North Channel. The dates are July 30, 31 and August 1…….a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Official registration will begin around the first of April. In the mean time if you have an interest in possibly attending I’d ask that you reply to this post with your name and contact information. Or you can PM or email me. By having your contact information I’ll be able to reach out to you once official registration commences. Nothing else needs to be done at this time. If you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out to me.

Jim, Anita and I are interested. We have not been back to the North Channel since the last Little Current Event. Anita needs to renew her passport but we should have plenty of time to do that. Todd

Hi Jim,

Please add Connie and me to your list for this summer's Rendezvous in Little Current. We cruised the Channel after last summer's Traverse City event. Definitely looking forward to returning to Little Current for some Farquhar's ice cream!

I know it is early, but to take my mind off the fact that it was 9 degrees here yesterday AM, if we were to go up to Tobermory, is there a place to store the truck and trailer in Tobermory before we head to Little Current to join you all? We are about 4 hours from Tobermory in Michigan. We are excited about this destination. Also assume that others are going to spend some time in the North Channel. Before? After? Will there be docks for all in Little Current?

Thank you,

Fred

Hi Fred. Others have come from Tobermory before, hopefully they’ll read your post and answer. As far as dockage at the Rendezvous in Little Current…once I post the official registration form and you’ve paid to attend that secures dockage. More details coming on official registration in March.

Re tobermory.. over the past 10 years Tobermory has been in a state of change, the once quiet town is now a very popular destination to the extent that parking that was once free is now being charged. You have to book a 4 hour time slot to park and hike the trails! The trailer parking lot was free but now you have to pay. I would suggest you drive around and launch at spider bay in little current where you can park across from the marina for free. The marina is very nice and the staff friendly!

Many have cruised from Tobermory to Killarney and then to little current but you are not guaranteed a smooth sailing and may have to wait a day or so. The water on the bay can be troublesome!
There are anchorages real close to Tobermory, west side of cove island or the popular wingfield basin if you decide to do the crossing.

We will be cruising the north channel from end of June to labour day and you are welcome to tag along before or after the rendezvous were we can show you some of the more out of the way anchorages, as well as the popular spots.
