Great Lakes area 2023 summer Rendezvous

Have been to Tobermory many times, but not in the last 20 years, probably first trip there was about 1960. I have heard about the changes. Have also been in Georgian Bay in less than wonderful conditions, and I can relate. Came back to the tub once hiding in the lee of the ferry, but that is story for a different time. Alternative would be to head north (I am in Port Huron Mich.) and go to Mackinac or Cheboygan for a couple of days, then go on north. It would be easier to be sure of arrival time that way also. More than I want to drive in one day.
Thank you for the info and suggestions.

Fred

PanaSeaAh:
We launched our R29S in Lions Head, which is not far from Tobermory. It is a charming small town with a wonderful marina and ramp. They allowed truck/trailer parking at the ice rink parking lot for free and after spending 8 days in Georgian Bay there were no issues with our truck/trailer. We did this trip in 2019. The ramp at Tobermory is located in the downtown area and is quite cramped with pedestrians walking all over. I would not recommend launching in Tobermory. After launching from Lions Head we went to Tobermory for a couple days - a great place to stop for a few days. My wife and I look forward to the rendezvous this summer and meeting everyone.

On or around May 15th I’ll be emailing those that have given me an indication that they’re interested in attending our July 30, 31 and August 1 Great Lakes Ranger Tugs/Cutwater Boats rendezvous in Little Current, North Channel, Ontario…..see list below. If you want to be included on this list so you have first opportunity for the official registration please make sure you let me know by a post here, PM me or call me at 231-642-7625. If I do not answer the phone do leave me a message. I’d like to also let everyone know that Reed Yacht Sales, Global Marine Insurance and Fluid Motion will be sponsors again this year. I mention this because for all 7 Rendezvous we’ve had in the Great Lakes they’ve always stepped up to help out. They’re participating helps keep our costs down, which means that each participant pays less to attend. They understand our community of boating lifestyle and this is one way they can support that. In return and where appropriate, I’d suggest you give them an opportunity to earn your business.

Good news…….it’s always nice when the factory offers to send a Fluid Motion rep to one of our Great Lakes Rendezvous’. I was just informed that Connor Dietz, Customer Service rep for Ranger Tugs/Cutwater Boats will be joining us in Little Current for this summers event. Thank you Fluid Motion for supporting our boating lifestyle.

With start of spring on March 20 many boaters in the upper Midwest (Great Lakes area) start to think and plan for the new boating season. With that in mind our Great Lakes area Rendezvous is only is only 4 1/2 months away and we have 26 couples on the “keep me informed” list, see below. If you’re thinking you might like to join us and are not on the list, simply let me know. Official registration for those on the list will commence on or around May 1, when I’ll be emailing everyone the registration form….along with the agenda for the three days. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me by replying to this post or call me at 231-642-7625. If I do not answer leave a voice message and I’ll return your call.

If you are someone that like to have backup paper charts before cruising in an area with numerous rocks that can adversely impact your trip, TrakMaps has a chartbook for the North Channel and for the next two days the promotion code CHARTBOOK gets the price down to $65.44. I have no interest in this company but have ordered Maps from them in the past and was satisfied with their product.

Lyn and Tari Detzler will be attending with new to us RT25, as yet unnamed.

Before I begin digging into what will be required to enter Canada this year for both crew and vessel, does anyone have any information?
