Graciela and I finished the Great Loop in 2021 and the Down East Loop in 2022 with our 2019 Ranger Tug 31S named Sweet Love.
Our home owner association requested a 30 minute presentation of our 3 year cruising. The link is:

We plan on shipping Sweet Love from Baltimore to Rotterdam in May, 2023 to start our European tour.
We can't say enough good about Ranger Tug.

Thank you Robert for sharing your experience! Very nice presentation and keep us posted about your European adventures!

Glad you enjoyed it. Will keep the group updated. Thank you.

A good friend and very experienced boater was adamant that our R31 CB was not a proper boat for the Down East loop.....too light he says..the St Lawrence River...the Gaspe and the Nova Scotia section will beat you up daily...currents, tides, fog....

I would REALLY love to hear you opinion....having done the loop we are anticipating next summer.

Happy Place,
Well, if you watched the presentation you will see that we accomplished the Down East Loop on our Sweet Love, Ranger Tug 31S last year. As a matter of fact, Graciela, my co-captain, was unable to join me after I entered Canada. So, I soloed Sweet Love from Sault Ste. Marie, North Channel, Georgian Bay, Trent Severn, Rideau, Ottawa (a friend joined me for 3 days), out the St. Lawrence (another friend joined me for the 2 last locks on the St. Lawrence (required)) Montreal, Quebec, Saguenay Fjord, Gaspe, Perce, New Brunswick, PEI, Bras D'Or Lake, Nova Scotia, (with a unique stop at Peggy's Cove), Halifax, St. John's, NB (and the reversing falls) and back into the USA at Eastport, Maine. Graciela finally came back aboard at Boothbay, ME. So, I would have to disagree with your friend. Be careful who you listen to. You might not get out of bed.

Watch it all here:

Hope you do it no matter what your 'experienced' friend says.

Robert, we met in Stillwater, MN as you were wrapping up your loop. Glad to see you’re actually going to take it to Europe! I hope you post about your travels out there. We plan to start the Loop in the fall. Cheers! - Jason (Hoppy Trails)

Jason,
Congratulations on heading out on the Great Loop. Yes, I remember you. Stillwater was a joy.
Good luck. I hope you enjoy it immensely.
There are a number of hoops to jump thru to get Sweet Love to Europe and then there is the restriction of 90/180 days in Schengen. Will come back to the forum to let them know of how it goes.

Thanks for reaching out.
Robert
