Hi,
I have a 2016 C26 w/volvo D3.

There is a very small diameter green hose/line going from the bilge (right under the prop shaft) to somewhere on the seacock (as far as I can trace).
Does anyone here know what the purpose of this hose is?

There is another small green line going from the top of the stuffing box to somewhere on the port side of the engine. This is a little more difficult to trace but it could be something electrical?? Perhaps a sensor?

Any comments is appreciated.

Thank you.

As bob daily wrote, they are green 8 gauge wires for the boat's bonding system. There are two purposes to the bonding system, cathodic protection and protection against stray current corrosion. The cathodic protection reduces galvanic corrosion by tying all of the underwater metals together and connecting an anode which shifts the metal's inherent voltage by -200 mVolts and protects the metal while sacrificing the cheap, replaceable anode. The protection from stray current corrosion comes from providing a return path back to the battery negative on all of the under water metals, so that if a positive DC power source were to come in contact with one of the under water metals it would trip/blow the overcurrent protection rather than allowing the corrosion to continue.
You can test the status of your bonding connections with the boat out of the water. You should see less than 1 ohm of resistance between each of the bonded metals and the battery negative when testing with a multi-meter.

Bob and Andy, thank you so much for your replies. Learn something every day 🙂
