I've been a frequent "guest" to the TugNuts site and appreciate the opportunity to join. We're in the process of preparing our current boat to sell her so as to acquire our first Ranger Tug. I say "first" because we'd eventually like to get the R29, but an expenditure of that magnitude will have to wait. Right now the R21-EC will do just fine. I also want to say "thanks" to the many posters who've provided invaluable insights into the ownership of a Ranger Tug. We look forward to becoming Ranger owners and active participants in the PNW Ranger community.

Hope to see you on the Pacific Northwest waters sometime... and Congratulations on your R21-EC.

Congratulations! We look forward to reading about your Ranger Tug adventures on the Willamette, and beyond. Just enjoyed a wonderful Pinot from that great valley a few nights ago. Is it possible to tour the wine country by boat?

Cheers,

Bruce

Bruce,
It is possible to tour the Willamette Valley wine country by boat, provided that boat is on a trailer!
Actually, now that Army Corps have reopened the Locks at Willamette Falls, you could motor all the way up the Willamette to the OSMB dock at Newburg where there are at least 10 wineries within a 5 mile radius (as the tug flies) of the ramp, on that same side of the river. What you'd do about ground transport I don't know, but I suspect you're a clever fellow who wouldn't let a little detail like that come between him and scandalous volumes of fine wine. It's about 25 river miles from the locks at Willamette Falls to the Newburg docks. That dock allows 72 hour transient tie-ups, no services available except vault toilets which you'll want to avoid. Probably more info than you'll ever care to know...

Thanks to you and Baz for your replies...

Well it's taken nearly three years but we finally got a tug. Bought SlackwaterJack's 2005 R21. Looking forward to launching soon. Home port: Willamette Falls, OR

Greetings,

Congratulations on your tug!

We are looking forward to launching Then Again this August. A claret red R-25 SC, she is our retirement gift to each other. We will be re-locating onto the Columbia later this year - not sure just where. We are familiar with the Willamette area, Lenny's folks used to live in Corvallis.

Hope to meet you on one or another of the rivers.

Thanks L&L. You'll find lots of great cruising on the Columbia & Willamette. Perhaps we can meet on the river sometime after you've settled in up here. We've enjoyed decorating our boats and going out in December with the Christmas Ships for several years now. It will be nice to finally have a boat with a heated pilothouse for those activities! You should checkout Christmasships.org and consider joining us, it's a grand time.
Take care, Joe

Congrats fellow new 21EC owners! You've chosen a fun little boat, and one that carries the heart of the Ranger line but has a bit of a sassy streak. Hope to hear about your adventures here; we'll surely be posting TugBug's adventures!
