I’m thinking about a grill as a present for our Cutwater 28 this Christmas. I’ve been looking at the Magma grills, but not really sure what to get. I would like something that can mount and then be put away/stored somewhere on the boat. I saw Magma has some slick looking mounts that can either go on the rails or the rod holder. I would typically be cooking for 2-4 people at most, so it doesn’t need to be huge.

Any suggestions/photos of installs others have done?

Thanks!

We have the Magma Catalina , bought from Ranger Tugs, on our R27. It has quick release rail mounts and folding legs so it can be used on the dock or on shore as well. We added a line to our spare propane tank on the swim platform so we do not have to use the canisters. It all works great!

Do you keep it mounted all the time unless taking it to shore?

My Cutwater is the LE, so it doesn't have the propane tanks. However, it does have the box for them with the round cutouts it seems you could just drop tanks in. I guess it would be nice to feed from the bigger tanks instead of the little canisters.

Yes, I keep it mounted all the time except when I pull the boat in the fall. I pull it off to get the salt off the rail and polish it up and then just put it back on.

Two thumbs up for the Magma Catalina. Mine is now 7 years old, works great and still shines up like new with Collinite Metal Wax 850. Mine is mounted like Red Raven's and stays there the entire boating season also.
