Had it with holding tank vent odors!

@ FreeSoup & s199811:
There is no vent filter in the R-31. We installed one behind the fridge near the vent line thru hull fitting and strapped it in place. There is not a lot of space to maneuver the fridge, so remove the door before you remove the screws holding the fridge in place. I took the opportunity to add some backing to where the screws go through the fibreglass as it seemed flimsy.

Thanks, appreciate the insight, and understand there isn't one already there.

I recently installed the air Force charcoal filter. on my R29 the ID is 5/8 in. I had to by two 5/8 barb to 3/4 inch regular hose thread. with the right connections it was a 20 minute job. Works great. on the R29 it will fit but it is tight. Good luck. PM me and I can send you a photo.
This is next on my project list. I looked for the filter hose once but i didn’t find it. Does the R29 come with a filter that needs to be replaced, or did you add one? Either way any pictures would be appreciated to cut down my project time.

I sympathize with the holding tank odour problems. Our solution was to get rid of the whole system and install a composting toilet (Airhead). We now have no odours, no holding tank to empty, no macerator pump and no problems. Just happy cruising and a yearly emptying of the composted waste. 🙂

Hi Ngleadow,

I was reading about you installing of an airhead composting toilet in your Ranger Tug. We had a natures head in our RV and converted our never used black tank to fresh water. Now that we are about to receive a 2022 R29 tugs, we are interested in doing the same. I am wondering what size ranger tug you have and how easy it was for you to switch out? Also, did you convert the black tank to fresh water? Any help that you could provide would be appreciated🙂

oops I see the original post was a few years ago. Still I hope the information i gave will be of use to others. The air force vent filter works very well.
Greetings , please send me the pic
