Living full time on our 29 and using our shower regularly, I like to make sure I clean out the sump for the shower every couple of months. Or when the drain seems slow or the sump pump comes on a couple of times after the showering has finished. This last time I was surprised at the little amount of hair in the strainer. I used my fish tape and ran it down from the shower drain and found that the expected pile of hair had not made it down to the drain but had caught somewhere near the sump in the pipe. Tip #1 maybe once a year or if your drain seems slow and the strainer in the sump is clear... check the drain pipe for hair. Tip#2 while cleaning the sump remove the pump ( held in place by two clamps easy to remove ) check the hole in the pump bottom for hair... I pulled out quite a bit that was wrapped around the wheel that pumps. Tip #3 I purchase one of these in hopes of having to do less of tips #1 & #2 https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01BYR ... UTF8&psc=1 This fits in the drain in the shower and catches any hair before it makes it down the drain. I was prompted to write this as last night was the first test and on inspection I was surprised how much hair it had caught after just one shower. You just pull it out wipe of the hair and replace. I am hoping this helps make life easier for others out there that like me do not enjoy tearing the bed apart and emptying the storage to clean out the sump.
