Hi Folks,,Has anyone ever anchored and fished for halibut on their R21EC using the anchor retrieval system that most of the sports fisherman use? (using a 18" or 20" buoy/scotsman on anchor line to lift anchor to surface) I'd like to purchase a system but not sure how this would work with the slower speed of the R21. Thoughts please.
Thanks, Marcel

You may want to look at out photo gallery at Nellie Too to see our anchor thimble. You can copy it as you wish, it has been tried with great success in the Desolation Sound area which is famous for anchor losses.

Hi Dave,, Thanks for your reply. The system you use as shown in the video clip is very similar to the one that I'm looking at. I normally drift fish in about 300 to 350ft of water but would prefer to anchor. Current is no more than 3-4kts max at peak so hopefully it will not cause a problem. I'm thinking that it will be OK.

Your welcome. The ring we use has circular eyes that we use a heavy duty stainless carbineer clip through eyes of the ring. After the anchor line is inside the ring. Some of the rings I see look a little cheesy. We have had the same setup for years. I use the ball for a fender usually near the stern depending on the dock setup. We don't use it all that much for anchor retrieval as the windless does all the work for us these days.
