Got an Icom 4100-a D-star/VHF/UHF radio tested and installed; 50w max power.

The pizza pan ground plane antenna mount uses a Seasucker dual mount handle, and was tested on the car at 60mph. I ran the antenna coax cable through the fitting for the tv antenna, but ended up having to remove the fairing to run the cable into the cabin. A pain, but doable. You might notice the drain holes drilled in the pan lip. I'm going to apply some coax seal tape on the antenna/mount, and I'll see what the result of saltwater exposure is.

The antenna is a Diamond dual-band NR770HA. I tested the antenna with a 5watt walkie-talkie on a vhf repeater 34 miles away. Note the lake is at 860 msl and the repeater antenna is at 2000 msl.
The Zumspot and battery pack can be several hundred yards from the radio, but I usually keep it close by. The batt pack will power the hotspot for 4-5 days of average usage before needing recharge. The hotspot uses the internet thru the iPHone personal hotspot; which does use a lot of phone battery.

Anyway, if you're on D-star, keep an ear out on reflector 30c, 30b, XRF757, XRF299 and I look forward to operating Marine Mobile.
