Boaters Discount has offered a price of $3,500 to $4,000 to build a Hardtop for your Ranger Tug. To get this price though they must have a commitment (deposit) on a minimum of eight tops. This will allow them to build a mold. If they build a single top such as what we are currently looking at, the cost would be double due to the fact that the top is basically hand built.

The eight deposits would have to be on the same model.

These tops are rated at 400# load limit so stowing an inflatable on the roof would not be an issue. Colors would be matched to your vessel.

When you compare this to the cost of the bimini, it is not expensive.

I have attached a line drawing depicting what it will look like. Obviously, the lights would be on the bottom side. The inflatable rack as well as grab rails would be an additional charge.

Anyone interested, please let me know.

Drawing says it attaches to roof. Does that mean it has no "gap" between this cover and existing roof or will there be some sort of stanscion between the 2 sections? How will installation of the hardtop affect entry of boat from sides (will overhead be significantly reduced) so a 5' 8" person can still step on or will we have to enter from swim step?

Also, is installation included. I had planned to wait until summer of 2011 when I take my boat to PNW for a trip up inside passage. However for this price I would strongly consider ordering earlier.

The top as it is designed for the R-29 will sit on top just as the factory install small hard top does. With this design you will have to duck under as you come aboard on the side. They will also build with "gull wing" hatches that will allow you to walk in. These of course will cost you a few "Boat Units". (one boat unit equals $500.00 according to Capn Mac)

The price includes installation at their La Connor location. However, at this time, they do not have enough committed orders to build a mold. Ours will be hand built so the cost is double.

Thanks, your reply mentioned "factory small top". I have a R25 but was not aware of any small top or cover offered by Ranger other than the canvas top. I am trying to negotate with my 1st mate and chief financial officer. That may take some time but it would be nice if we could be kept aware of how many have committed to buy.

Bill,
The small "Factory Hard Top" comes on the R-29.

Right now, I am the only committed buyer.

Does boaters discount still offer this service. I have an R-23.
Anyone have pictures of this hardtop?
