Hello, this is not a big deal for a lot of boaters. However, this Saturday, early in the am, we are heading to Langley for two nights and then heading home Monday early morning in our R27
Question Do you have any ideas about currents from Kingston to Langley? and anything to help on our voyage, please.
Thanks
Jim

I have made the run around the south side of Whidbey Island many times...just check out currents and tides, along with marine conditions, to make sure you do it at the optimum time.

Download the Navionics app, it shows currents. There is a chart book available at marine stores that has currents for Puget Sound and the Strait. Usable from year to year without having to replace entire book, just buy the supplement. Lots of resources out there.

some good advice on the currents already, but i will add: if this is your first time to Langley, the marina is *very* small and maneuvering in there can be challenging. i see you have an R-27 so you will likely be on the inside docks, so have your boat-handling skills ready (and your thrusters at the ready).

we live in Langley so kind of feel like the unofficial welcoming committee. the Salty Lass will be returning to Langley marina this Thursday after spending the summer up in Oak Harbor, so if you see her there, feel free to stop by and say hi.

All sound advice. Run up the east side of the sound (past Elliot Bay) but make sure you give ample room to the many fisherman you will encounter along the way.

Langley is a very cute little town and a great place to visit. As stated the inner marina is very small behind a high wood wall.
Per Windy, the current forecast for Saturday is perfect for your 50 km cruise from Gig Harbor up there. Winds for Saturday morning under 5 kts with seas essentially flat. Other than the interesting scenery it will probably be a very uneventful trip up. If the forecast holds winds pick up a bit on your bow from the south (5 kts gusting to 12 kts) on Monday morning with waves under 1 ft. Still a pretty easy ride.
Forecasts do change of course and I start checking them every day a week before a cruise and look for trends (weather getting worse or better) as I get closer to departure. Have fun!

Thank everyone for the great information!!

Jim

Also check for fog between Langley and Clinton. You can use the Clinton ferry cams.
