Good morning all,

We have a HeaterCraft heater on board our 2014 R31. Does this working something like your car heater, in that the engine must be running to obtain heat? What is the difference between the HeaterCraft heater and the reverse cycle heat on the ac? I am assuming if we had the Webasto Diesel heater installed, it would have its own controls?

Thank you in advance,

You are correct. The Heatercraft heater has hoses carrying hot coolant from the engine to the heater, and a fan that blows air through a heat exchanger. The Webasto diesel furnace uses a small burner to heat air, and has a fan to blow that hot air through a system of ducts.

...and the a/c is really a small heat pump similar to the residential ones except that it uses seawater instead of air as the heat or cool source.

Thank you all for the clarification and explanations!
