Hello to the Red R-31 or R-27 Tug that was cruising around Commencement Bay around 3 PM, today. You cruised in front of our house by the old Dickman Mill. Couldn't read the name on the boat. Looked like a good day for a tug-type boat to be out on the water.

Hi BoonDocker ,
That might have been my red R27 as I believe it is undergoing testing/sea trials before being wrapped up and shipped to 😀 not sure but only a possibility 🙂
Cheers

Peter and Ronnie,

Echo, our new and soon to be delivered R27, was splashed in the water for the first time Wednesday for testing. Kenny took it out on Lake Washington. I can't say for sure, but I got the sense that he takes them all to Lake Washington for that purpose. And that they stay in fresh water. The Commencement Bay I know about is in the Puget Sound in the Tacoma area. Just FWIW.

Aussie, it may have been yours as I think the bottom paint is put up on up at CSR Marine in Demoines right up the road. Who knows... Anyway, it was a very nice looking boat, and I was a bit envious as we are currently boatless waiting for delivery of our C28 in first week of July. We'll barely have time for some shakedown runs before desolation sound.

Boondocker is right that the boats go to CSR for bottom painting. Ours was tested first, though, and now should be at CSR. But I don't know if that is always the sequence. So maybe it was your boat, Peter and Ronnie!

Hi BoonDocker,
You probably saw the Molly M, We came up the hill from Narrows Marina and made a cruise of Commencement Bay and the waterways. We went by the Old Town area where the Dickman Mill and Top of the Ocean used to be at about 3:00pm.
The Molly M spent its first two years @ Tyee Marina and last year fishing and cruising the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.
This year I have the Molly M in covered moorage at Narrows Marina...Nice people down there.
Where are you going to keep your C28?
Enjoy your C-28 when you get it.

We are planning on keeping our C-28 in the Fass Landing Dry Storage in the Thea Foss Waterway. Andrew has been very helpful and actually came to the marina to check the dimensions of the lift and racks and has arranged to have one of the racks fabricated used in the factory for us at cost as the ones in the warehouse wouldn't work with the keel.

We've kept our boats over their over the years and doing so has saved a tremendous amount in Mx costs. We are considering a move over the the Narrows Marina if they ever get the brew pub finished over there and actually open the dry storage facitlity.

It has been very difficult seeing all people out on the water enjoying the nice weather over the last several days.

Hi Boondocker,

The work at the Narrows Marina seems to have moved into high gear lately.
The guest moorage docks are almost completed and I have seen a lot of contractors working everywhere.

The restaurant has been getting a lot of boat traffic on Friday nights, so last Friday night when returning to the marina I noticed they had a "Dock Boy" assisting boaters dock.

I had my sailboat at Johnny 's Dock Marina for a while about 14 years ago, I didn't like the long trip to open water in a NO WAKE ZONE. The sailboat could go 7kts with no wake. The Molly M makes a wake @ 5kts so I go a bit slower. I never timed it, but at least you engine will be well warmed up when you reach open water.

Enjoy your C28 when you get it.
