The helm seat on my 25SC needed to be re-upholstered or replaced. I decided to replace the entire seat. I bought a Tempress Low Back Navi-Style in the Tan/Sand color. The color is a great match for the interior of the boat. The seat folds over against the wheel or will lay on top of the wheel which is the position we use mostly at the dock. To mount it to the wood base I made a template for the seat bolt holes, transferred it to the wood base and drilled 4 holes. I used 1/4 20 x 1 1/2” bolts to attach it. I bought the seat on Amazon.

Hi Brian,
I did the same thing on my R27 about a year ago when getting the other benches re-covered. The same seat bolted to the bracket that was in place with a minor mod to one of the bolt holes to have it match the new seat. We've been way happy with the Tempress seat.

I was able to get 4 hours of A.I.S. in yesterday. I think I'm going to like this new seat.

Very Good I like that!

I had a 10 hour ride on my Tempress last year, both seats (mine and Tempress) held up well.
For the other flaking, failing upholstery we went to a local shop and had them cover the dinette seats with a marine grade vinyl, ran about 800 bucks. I also took the opportunity to shorten the aft dinette seat by about three inches and shortened the table by the same amount. Makes the passage by the stove end of the cabin easier and makes the cabin feel a bit more spacious.

Any seattle area seat upholstery recommendations?

Another vote here for the Tempress helm seat. Inexpensive (about $125 on Amazon IIRC) and an easy job once I figured out how it would attach to the existing bracket. Now for the aging dinette upholstery. . . .

Does anyone have experience with Llebroc helm seats? I've looked at the Tempress models, but their armrests are fixed, and I want some that can flip up to make it easier to get into and out of the seat. I'm considering the Llebroc Omega model https://www.llebroc.com/product-p/4brom3lo1.htm and would appreciate any feedback, pro or con. Thanks!

I put in a LaeBroc helm seat, I believe it was the Mini, Very happy with it, I like the foldup arms, but be aware if the boat gets slammed sideways the arms may bend at the back support. I believe it happened went a friend was at the helm and the boat rolled and his 230 lbs must have bent the arm fasteners inside the upholstery. But it is very comfortable for long trips and I usually single-hand, so comfort is important. I made a set of terry cloth covers to place over the vinyl, much more comfortable in hot humid conditions. Keeps the vinyl much cleaner also. I have had it for about four years and about 1200 hours of running. Good matching color with the interior.
