I am ons crowded anchorage and my wi.dlass is non responsive. 2010 R25 with a Premature windlass. I found the overheating circuit breaker under the v berth but no joy pushing the red button . Please tell me I am missing something obvious.

I do not have my wiring diagrams with me right now so I may be way off here. Doesn't the windlass tie into the bow thruster circuit? If so, and again not sure, would the bow thruster fuse located in aft battery compartment control windlass also. Also, is it possible your control switch for windlass/thrusters (also located in aft batter compartment) has been placed in off position?

As Just Dreamin said, our R27 windlass is wired thru the thruster battery switch.

The relay burned up on us last fall, and Ranger Tug replaced the stock Lewmar windlass relay on right with a much bigger relay on the left. Have not had a problem since.

No luck there, thanks Mike. The thrusters are working fine. I looked all around the battery compartment, engine compartment and generator (2.5 Mase). I found many clearly labeled fuses but none marked thrusters or windlass. Still hoping some one knows and it is an easy fix before I have to pull up all that line and chain by hand.

Now none of my DC functions are working. Batteries fully charged. I must have upset the applecary when I was looking through the wires out back. Ideas? All switches are on, meaning house and starting switch as well as the switch next to the generator.

Engine starts. Generator starts. Thrusters work.

If none of your DC electrics are working have peek inside the engine compartment on port side you should have a relay with a red button, has it tripped open. If red button is out reset. The windlass fuses on our R25 are located on the port side in battery compartment behind batteries. Two very large fuses, I think around 150amp size.

Got it thanks to a call to Andrew. I did not understand how the circuit breakers work. I pushed the little red buttons thinking it was a reset switch. Andrew told me about pushing the little ARM under the circuit breaker back in place. All is well with the windlass and DC panel. Thanks all and especially Andrew.

It is not labeled Windlass, but the large red rotary switch for the thruster also controls the windlass on the R25. This switch should be on. (If you wish to use the thrusters or windlass. Some have turned it off.

On our Lewmar windlass pushing the red button would trip the breaker. There is a black lever on the edge of the breaker. I push it in to energize and push the red to trip it out. Since we have exterior foot switches I trip it to prevent tampering when we are not aboard. Not sure your set up would be the same.

Crewdog.
For future reference, the relay that Ranger replaced, where is it located?
Thanks.

The contactor solenoid is located on my R25 inside the helm station wiring compartment. Accessed through door located inside berth area. When you are looking at wiring compartment the solenoid is mounted to the left front. Has a positive and negative wire secured on top about a 4 or 6AWG and if I recall correctly three wires mounted at base which are the branch circuits to rocker switch at helm and foot operated switches on bow. I am not on the boat; therefore, trying to recall installation.

Bbrh:
The windlass relay was in the helm wiring closet accessed thru the v-berth.
