I'm interested in 'in hull' options, https://www.airmar.com/productinfo.html?category=MT&name=Marine Transducers maybe the 2kW R111LH. There is no good thru hull position on my double stepped hull and the twin engines make way too much turbulence for transom mounting. I currently have an in hull GT15 that works OK, but, I didn't realize there are many high power options. I'd be interested if anyone has tried any high power in hull models and which ones, particularly those for bluefin tuna fishing.
 
Also, given how difficult it is to run wires on this boat, I'm wondering if the GT15 wiring could be cut and connected to a high power in hull transducer. I'll contact the manufacturer and get their thoughts as well.
 
Still hoping to hear from the Ask Cutwater team thoughts on the efficacy of high power in hull transducers (replacing the GT15 in its current location)? My service provider said to check with the boat manufacturer.
