Holding tank vent location

After reading many posts, realize I need to install (replace?) a holding tank vent filter. Questions: Where/how do I access the holding tank vent line? Are there any cautions I should observe (I have read all the smelly stories of clogged filters)?
 
On my R-23 the filter came factory installed. It's located under the galley sink. I can't say where it is on a R-29.
