Homeport Anacortes, and I’m planning a holiday trip on my R31. My first idea was to visit Victoria around December 9-13. I think that place would be fun at holiday time and Butchart Garden is quite a show then. I’m a little hesitant because the big strait can be pretty iffy in December.
Given that, I also am thinking of Ganges, because the waters can be a little more protected, and I’d think they have a pretty good Christmas market where they have their summer markets..
Do any of you local Tugnuts have any favorite holiday destinations up north?
 
I’d like to do this too, weather permitting of course. Not a fan of big bad Mother Nature when she’s at her worst. I do love a cold, clear, winter cruise! No concrete plans yet, however…
 
Have you considered Sidney BC (Sidney Harbor Marina)? Easier route, the marina is nice and protected, and Sidney is a great small town. There is a grocery store, other shops and restaurants within a short walking distance from the marina. Victoria, Butchart Gardens, etc are a cheap bus ride away.

Sidney is a great destination for good reasons.
The bus service on the island is pretty nice.
A fair passage is more likely for this port also
 
Port Sidney Marina is great. My yacht club (SYC) has an agreement with them, we get 3 free nights a month at all of the Mill Bay Marina Group locations, of which Port Sidney is one of. We stayed there for 3 nights over Canada day / July 4th weekend before heading to Roche.
 
You may also want to consider Oak Bay marina if Victoria is your focus. About 4 miles from downtown Victoria, some shops a pub and restaurants ~1/2 walk on Oak Bay Ave. Haro straight can be a bit bumpy at times, but not like Juan de Fuca.

I’ll be taking a quick jaunt up to Friday Harbor this weekend. Friday AM to Sunday. It’s about 3hrs15min for me once I get outside the locks, so a 4 hour journey altogether. Looks to be a nice and calm weekend!
 
Same here. I’ll be going out Friday through Tuesday from Anacortes into the islands
Good weather to pick up some winter crabs.
I’ll stop by if I get all the way to FH,
