Has anyone created something to replace the flip-seat (in my case a C28, but I believe they are similar on several models) in the rear of the cockpit? I am trying to design something a little more lounge-y but still folds or gets out of the way for the engine hatch to open appropriately. I rarely use the cockpit table, so was planning to use the baseplate for that as a support.

I like the design of the seat provided, it is clever and useful, but there just isn’t any place to take a solid, stretched out, fresh air nap.

...Has anyone gone from beam to beam using the fold-up seats instead of stern toward bow in the middle etc.?

I’ve seen so many other talented and clever modifications on this forum just wondering if anyone has already done this with success.

Not sure if this meets your needs or works with a C28 but it works for me on our R27 Classic. Modified (shortened) hammock with carabiners on each end to boat rail/cleat.

The best design feature on the R21 was the stern seat. Should have been carried over to all the models. Once the hook goes down lounging is paramount. I’ve been thinking about this very question since purchasing our Ranger. Won’t sleep (in the cockpit on a warm sunny afternoon) until this is answered.

I'll second Curt's idea with the hammock. I have one of the compact backpack hammocks with a carabiner on each end and I hang it diagonally in the cockpit of our R25sc. One end on the cabin grab handle and the other end on the opposite corner railing. I'll also hang the hammock on the bow, from the cabin-top grab handle to the pulpit railing.
