I know there is a thread on cleaning the contacts and in fact I worked on 3 tug horns at the recent SW Rendezvous and got them working. One of mine is out and I can't get it going. I do have power getting to the contact. Cleaned the contacts and still no joy. It is a pretty simple device, so I don't know what else to check out.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

I also had one (of the two) that would not work. After cleaning the contacts, still no go. I then adjusted the set screw (that the on-line instructions say not to adjust) and it worked fine.
Hope this helps.

Mike,

What are the symptoms where, " One of mine is out..."?

I suspect that I have one horn that does not work initially, but then starts sounding after a couple of seconds or after pressing the horn toggle switch a 2nd time. The initial sound is really weak; then after a time, it sounds normal and strong. Does this make sense? If so, what do I do about it? Thanks.

Joe,

Where do I find the on-line instructions? Especially the part about not adjusting the set screw? Thanks.

Dale,
The one that is out makes absolutely no sound. I will try the adjustment screw. I will e-mail you the cleaning instructions.

Problem resolved. Interestingly I cleaned the contacts with a course emery. After several tests for power and adjustment screw turning we tried cleaning the contacts a third time using a very fine 1,000 grit wet and dry sand paper. Low and behold the horn works now. Can't figure out why a change in grit would work or maybe it is a coincidence, but all is well.
