My 2016 C28 is on shore power and two days ago everything was fine. Today I go down to the boat and the house batteries(AMG) are completely dead with shore power showing 125V and House batteries at 8! Changer panel switch-ON
Engine and thruster batteries are at full charge. Refer was on at low number(2). Obviously not a shore power problem.
Batteries are too new for failure or corrosion problems.
Is there some fuse or breaker that I need to reset?
Has my charger failed?
Your advise much appreciated
Thanks

I will first assume that you leave items on that draw 12 volt power such as refrigerator etc. Therefore if you were not getting a charge from the charger the house batteries will have been drawn down. The charging relay will not allow a charge to a battery bank if it falls below 9.5 volts. So let's assume that your relays are working properly. I would check the leads coming from the charger to the house bank to ensure that they are providing current to the batteries. This will make sure that the charger is not defective or that somehow the settings got changed and a charge was no longer going to the house bank. Additionally, with your charger setup I think there is an in line fuse on the charging positive lead so check that out as well. If that is blown you need to figure out why, especially if it blows upon inserting a new one. If that checks out, it could be a defective relay. I would put the battery switch to parallel and this will join the engine battery to the house bank. The house bank should start to charge up. Once the House bank reaches 10 volts I would turn off the parallel switch and see if the relay led light for the house bank relay goes on. Now keep in mind that Ranger wiring setup seems to change at various times so not all boats are wired the same, but the principle is similar. As an example my boat, a 2011 R-27, has a switch between my inverter and relays. My system is a combination inverter/charger, and if that switch is off I get no charge to either bank. Hopefully someone else on the forum may have your exact wiring setup and may be able to shed some more light on this issue. But those are my thoughts.

Yes, to support Mike, check that the inverter switch is set to charge, and also that all red breakers that feed the house batteries from the charger are on. In my case there is a red power switch in the lazarette where the house batteries are. This switch is remote from the other house, engine, thruster switches. Good luck.

Had the same issue on my 2011 R-29. In my case I had not left the Blue Sea Main Battery Switch "on". When I turned it on the problem was solved. Lets hope yours is that simple.

Mea Culpa-in a hurry to leave the boat I forgot to switch AC Main on after hooking up the shore power!
Lesson learned-take your time and consult the departure check list-Haste makes Waste
