There is a trawler fest over in Stuart, FL January 22 through 25. That's a pretty decent excuse to head to Florida in January, but a better one would be a Ranger Tug gathering on Charlotte Harbor, maybe the week before?
If you're not familiar, the harbor runs about 30 miles from the interstate bridge to the pass into the Gulf, and that ignores Pine Island Sound, extending another 20 miles or so down. There is a lot of interesting and protected water, from the two major rivers at the top of the harbor down to the barrier islands along the Sound. World class inshore fishing, anchorages and waterfront bar/restaurants scattered here and there, and in between cold fronts even the locals are wearing shorts and t-shirts for our January boating.😀
The only thing we really lack down here is a fleet of Ranger Tugs with heated pilothouses, for when those cold fronts do show up! 😉 We're trying to fix that problem, and some fun-loving Ranger owners would be a welcome help.
So how about it? Anyone interested? C-brats also welcome, of course. I can provide free parking for all the trucks and trailers you can bring. 🙂
